Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia to discuss inter-regional cooperation

The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, will discuss inter-regional cooperation and trade and economic interaction in Ust Kamenogorsk, the agency reports citing Vesti.Ru.

Almaty. September 6. Kazakhstan Today - The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, will discuss inter-regional cooperation and trade and economic interaction in Ust Kamenogorsk, the agency reports citing Vesti.Ru.

D. Medvedev will arrive in Ust Kamenogorsk for the meeting, which will take place in the second half of the day. On Tuesday, September 7, the Presidents will take part in VII Forum of Inter-Regional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

The forthcoming meeting of the leaders of two countries will be the eighth this year. "It shows that Russia and Kazakhstan value further deepening and development of mutually beneficial cooperation in political, trade and economic, educational-cultural and other areas," Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Sergey Prihodko, said.

"D. Medvedev and N. Nazarbayev will discuss inter-regional cooperation, trade and economic interaction, the participatory action plan of Russia and Kazakhstan for 2009 - 2010, cooperation in the space area, energy, nuclear sphere, military-technical cooperation, cooperation with CSTO, SCO, the questions of bilateral and international agenda, including performance of the Russian President's functions in the CIS and Kazakhstan's President - in OSCE. "Special attention will be paid to prospects of development of integration formats on the CIS space, first of all, creation of the Customs Union and the uniform economic space, and practice of joint control of the external border of the Customs Union," Assistant to the Russian President informed.

According to S. Prihodko, the participants of VII Forum of Inter-Regional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan will traditionally discuss the questions of regional trade, cooperation in fuel and energy complex, transport, agriculture, education, and cultural-humanitarian communications.

A number of bilateral documents will be signed at the forum.
