Presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan signed memorandum of location of Russian military units in Kyrgyzstan

The Presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Dmitry Medvedev and Kurmanbek Bakiyev, signed the memorandum of intentions on further development and improvement of bilateral contract-legal base regulating location of the Russian military units and placing of additional Russian military contingent in the territory of Kyrgyzstan Republic, the agency reports citing the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.

Bishkek. August 3. Kazakhstan Today - The Presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Dmitry Medvedev and Kurmanbek Bakiyev, signed the memorandum of intentions on further development and improvement of bilateral contract-legal base regulating location of the Russian military units and stationing of additional Russian military contingent in the territory of Kyrgyzstan Republic, the agency reports citing the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the press service, K. Bakiyev and D. Medvedev's negotiations passed on August 1 in Cholpon-Ata within the limits of the informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

The document states that Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed the memorandum with a view of further development of bilateral military cooperation in the interests of the people of both states and maintenance of regional stability and safety.
