Representatives of CSTO countries coordinated positions concerning agenda of 63rd session of UN General Assembly

Consultations of representatives of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states concerning the agenda of the 63rd session of UN General Assembly were held in Moscow, the agency reports referring to the press service of CSTO Secretariat.

Almaty. August 18. Kazakhstan Today - Consultations of representatives of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states concerning the agenda of the 63rd session of UN General Assembly were held in Moscow, the agency reports referring to the press service of CSTO Secretariat.

"During the exchange of opinions on the main issues of the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in New York on September 16, 2008, special attention has been drawn to increase of the role of the United Nations in search of adequate answers to the new challenges and threats and to the process of reforming of the United Nations," the press service informed.

The parties also discussed the questions of safety and stability, first of all in the zone of CSTO responsibility.

The Russian party informed the participants of the consultations on the events in South Ossetia.

CSTO member representatives discussed the course of resolution of some conflicts, in particular, in Afghanistan, Iraq, and also the situation developed after unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo.

"The meeting participants agreed to continue a productive practice of carrying out of consultations promoting coordination of positions of CSTO member states on the main international problems including through the permanent representatives at the international organizations in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Brussels," the press service of CSTO Secretariat informed.

The representatives of all member states of the organization took part in the consultations of the organization headed by vice Director of Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, V. Zaemsky.
