RK Minister for Foreign Affairs held a number of meetings

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, held a number of meetings in Paris on Thursday, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Astana. September 19. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, held a number of meetings in Paris on Thursday, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on September 17, in Paris during the visit to France the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, visited UNESCO headquarters where he held the meeting with Executive Director of this influential organization, Koichiro Matsuura.

"During the meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed current condition and perspective directions of cooperation of Kazakhstan with UNESCO, having noted a dynamical level of contacts between our country and UNESCO in the area of culture, education, and science," the press service informs.

UNESCO General Director, K. Matsuura positively estimated efforts of Kazakhstan on protection of cultural and natural heritage at the national, regional and international levels.

According to the press service, M. Tazhin held the meeting with the Supreme Representative of European Union of Foreign Policy and Security, Javier Solana, during which the parties discussed actual aspects of international relations, in particular, safety issues in Central Asia, including Afghanistan problem.

"J. Solana expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the program of assistance of restoration of Afghanistan," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan acquainted the interlocutor with the key points of recently accepted state program Way to Europe.

M. Tazhin invited the EU Supreme Representative to take part in the forum - Common World: Progress through Diversity planned for October in Astana.

According to the press service, during the meeting the diplomats considered questions of introduction of our country into World Trade Organization.

M. Tazhin also took part in consultations in the format Three EU - Central Asia at the level of Ministers for Foreign Affairs where the ministers held a detailed exchange of opinions on the course of realization - Strategy of New Partnership between the EU and Central Asia for 2007-2013.

The main objective of consultations was discussion and defining of specific practical actions on realization of EU Strategy.
