Romanian Prime Minister to visit Kazakhstan - Ambassador

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu will visit Kazakhstan in the second half of 2008.

Astana. May 5. Kazakhstan Today - Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu will visit Kazakhstan in the second half of 2008. The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Romania in Kazakhstan Emil Rapcha said today at the briefing after the ceremony of delivery of credentials to the President of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"The Prime Minister of Romania plans to visit Kazakhstan in the second half of this year. He was invited in November of 2007 during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Bucharest," E. Rapcha said.

He informed that VII session of the Kazakhstan-Romanian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation will take place in the end of June in Bucharest. According to the Ambassador, "Romania perceives Kazakhstan as the major partner not only in Central Asia, but also all over the world."

In his turn, the leader of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that Kazakhstan is interested in the opportunities for transit, processing of energy carriers, transport corridors connecting Central Asia with Europe."

According to Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan, volume of commodity turnover between two countries last year reached $757.3 million. 14 joint ventures in oil-and-gas sector work in Kazakhstan. 5 joint ventures working in the sphere of trading of furniture, clothes, footwear and medicines were created in Romania.
