Russia suggests signing CIS free trade zone convention

Russia suggested signing the CIS free trade zone convention. First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Igor Shuvalov, informed journalists after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Nikolay Azarov, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. April 2. Kazakhstan Today - Russia suggested signing the CIS free trade zone convention. First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Igor Shuvalov, informed journalists after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Nikolay Azarov, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

"Free trade zone is an institute we plan to formalize by the CIS multilateral agreement," I. Shuvalov said. He reminded that there is an international contract in this sphere, which is not ratified by many states, and trade relations between the CIS partners have been based on bilateral agreements."

"We consider that the time has come for us to develop common approaches of bilateral and multilateral trade. It can be done within the limits of the CIS convention," First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation said.

"First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also informed of the planned meetings with the USA and the EU delegations. Russia intends to explain that the Customs Union does not contradict the norms and WTO and European Union rules."
