Session of Ministerial Defense Council of CSTO member states to be held in Yerevan

The next session of Ministerial Council of Defense of the Organization Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held in Yerevan on August 21-22, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

Almaty. August 19. Kazakhstan Today - The next session of Ministerial Council of Defense of the Organization Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held in Yerevan on August 21-22, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Danial Ahmetov, Vice Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Bulat Dzhanasayev, and the chairman of Department of Operational Planning, Lieutenant Colonel, Alimov, will take part in the work of the Council.

The agenda of the session will include more than 20 questions, mainly concerning military construction.

The third and the fourth stages of Joint CSTO command and staff exercise Rubezh-2008 will be held on August 18-22 in Armenia.

Joint CSTO command and staff exercise Rubezh-2008 being held in summer of 2008 in four stages and for the first time in CSTO history are being carried out at three levels: strategic, operative and tactical and covers all regions of the collective security.

As it was informed earlier, the first stage of CSTO exercise Rubezh-2008 was held in Armenia on July 22-24. CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, and the Assistant Secretary of Security Council of Russia, Jury Baluevsky, were at the opening ceremony.

The second stage of the exercise was held on July 30 in Moscow in CSTO joined staff.

At the third and fourth stages of the exercises, which be held under the leadership of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Oganyan, the groups of the armies, which are a part of deployed in the territory of Armenia 102nd Russian military base, will be involved in the structure of the Armed forces of Armenia and operative groups from all CSTO states.

CSTO participants, created in May, 1992, are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
