State visit of President of Russian Federation to Kazakhstan has come to an end

The first state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to Kazakhstan has come to an end, the agency reports.

Astana. May 23. Kazakhstan Today - The first state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to Kazakhstan has come to an end, the agency reports.

On Thursday, the new Russian leader paid his first foreign visit to Kazakhstan. This fact, as D.Medvedev noted during the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, is demonstration of the fact that Russia intends to continue vector of good-neighbourhood and strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.

N. Nazarbayev stated that Kazakhstan's foreign policy relations with Russia have always been a priority. "In my opinion, today Kazakhstan-Russian relations represent the most successful and effective model of bilateral cooperation on all post Soviet space," the President of Kazakhstan emphasized. "We used to meet with Vladimir Vladimirovichem Putin often and efficiently solved arising issues. There was no problem that we did not solve in a frank dialogue taking into account our mutual interests of our states and people. The negotiations with Dmitry Anatolevichem Medvedev have shown that this positive spirit is in place and that the tradition of trustful relations between the leaders of Russia and Kazakhstan will be continued," N. Nazarbayev said.

During the negotiations the counterparts discussed condition and prospects of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. N. Nazarbayev suggested preparing long-term agreement on economic cooperation and integration of two countries with a view of intensification of relations of two countries. The governments of two countries have been instructed to develop and bring the plan of joint actions of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2009-2010 up to the end of 2008 for approval of the leaders of the states.

The important attention during negotiations was drwn to the questions of use of Baikonur complex, joint development of space and the questions connected with realization of joint development of oil-and-gas deposits projects, transportation of oil and gas, and creation of joint petrochemical enterprises.

Following the results of the visit, a number of bilateral agreements have been signed. The Presidents of two countries N. Nazarbayev and D. Medvedev have signed the joint statement.

The governments of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation concluded the cooperation agreement in the field of use and developments of global navigating satellite system (Glonass) and the cooperation agreement in the field of research and use of space for peaceful purposes. JSC Kazyna and the state corporation - Russian Nantechnology Corporation signed the cooperation agreement. The Agreement on Intentions of granting of the long-term credits was concluded by the Bank of Development of Kazakhstan and the state corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin signed the agreement on transfer by the government of the Russian Federation the building in Moscow in Chistoprud Avenue to the property of Kazakhstan.
