Summit of SCO leaders to be held in Dushanbe

Summit of leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states (SCO) will be held in Dushanbe on August 28, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

Almaty. August 12. Kazakhstan Today - Summit of leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states (SCO) will be held in Dushanbe on August 28, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

"SCO summit will take place in Dushanbe on August 28," the Russian agency informs.

It was confirmed on July 22 at the meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of SCO member countries in Dushanbe.

"Preparation for the summit of the organization planned for August 28 has been going successfully," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, said.

The Presidents of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, and the President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, will arrive for the summit and hold a separate meeting in Dushanbe.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization includes: Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have the status of observers in the organization. Iran has repeatedly declared that it would like to become SCO full member.
