Third session of research group of high level of ACD member states held in Astana

The third session of research group of high level of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states is being held in Astana on August 18-19. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed today during weekly briefing, the agency reports.

Astana. August 18. Kazakhstan Today - The third session of research group of high level of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states is being held in Astana on August 18-19. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed today during weekly briefing, the agency reports.

"The representatives of more than two dozen experts of high level are taking part in the work of the forthcoming meeting," Y. Ashikbayev said.

The session participants are considering many questions, including further prospects of cooperation within ACD. "The questions concerning carrying out of the seventh session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs of ACD member states, which will take place on October 16, 2008 in Astana, are of special interest for Kazakhstan," he noted.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed that after the Ministerial Council session Kazakhstan as a chairman will head Asia Cooperation Dialogue, which unites 30 Asian countries.

"ACD works in 20 areas of cooperation in various directions. Kazakhstan is a co-coordinator of transport, energy and agricultural areas of cooperation, which plan to be actively developing during the presidency in ACD," Y. Ashikbayev concluded.
