Ukraine to initiate negotiations on joining Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus
Almaty. February 17. Kazakhstan Today - Victor Yanukovych, who won in February presidential elections in Ukraine, is going to initiate negotiations on joining the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, the agency reports citing the newspaper Kommersant.
"According to the newspaper, two high-ranking sources in the government of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovych's team, whose inauguration to the post of the president of the country is planned for February 25, has started preparation for the first large foreign trade initiative of the country - joining of Ukraine of the uniform customs space of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus."
"In spite of the fact that Ukraine is the full WTO member, transnational corporations do not treat it as an independent market and perceive it as an object for trade and investment along with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Therefore, Yanukovych's team started a serious work on preparation of joining of Ukraine of the uniform customs space," a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine informed.
