UN Special Rapporteur to visit Kazakhstan

Astana. September 7. Kazakhstan Today - UN Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, Raquel Rolnik will visit Kazakhstan. The head of the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Ilyas Omarov, informed at a briefing on Monday, the agency reports.

"UN Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, Raquel Rolnik, will visit Kazakhstan on September 6 - 13 to hold a number of bilateral meetings with the management of state bodies of our country to discuss the questions of adequate housing in Kazakhstan and human rights questions," I. Omarov informed.

UN Special Rapporteur, whose mandate from the UN Human Rights Council consists in investigation, monitoring and recommendation of solutions to adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living, is an independent expert who is appointed by the UN Human Rights Council to study and make recommendations on the situation in the country or allegations of human rights violations.
