Uniform custom duties of Customs Union to come into force since January 1, 2010

The uniform custom duties of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus have been approved and will come into force from January 1, 2010. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said yesterday, following the results of the session of the EurAsEc Interstate Council, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RIA).

Almaty. June 10. Kazakhstan Today - The uniform custom duties of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus have been approved and will come into force from January 1, 2010. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said yesterday, following the results of the session of the EurAsEc Interstate Council, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RIA).

According to RBC, the project will be submitted for approval of the EurAsEc Interstate Council at the level of the leaders of the states. According to V. Putin, the proposals of the parties regarding the stages and terms of formation of the uniform customs have been approved. The terms have been defined proceeding from the beginning of the work of the Customs Union - since January 1, 2010 and completion of all the necessary procedures - July 1, 2011.

First Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Igor Shuvalov, explained that the uniform infrastructure (border, customs) of three countries will be operating from July 1st, 2011. As for uniform custom duties, I. Shuvalov noted that everything has been coordinated and all the disagreements have been eliminated."

As informed earlier, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus intend to carry on negotiations on introduction into World Trade Organization (WTO) as the uniform customs union. According to RBC, WTO accession process will be not be carried out by each country separately, but as the uniform customs union of three countries.
