UN's Special Rapporteur on Torture to visit a number of colonies

The UN's Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Manfred Novak, will visit Kazakhstan on May, 5 - 14. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed on Thursday, the agency reports.

Astana. May 4. Kazakhstan Today - The UN's Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Manfred Novak, will visit Kazakhstan on May, 5 - 14. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed on Thursday, the agency reports.

According to Y. Ashikbayev, during his visit M. Novak plans to hold meetings with the officials of Kazakhstan, the national institutes on protection of human rights, the representatives of civil society, and the international organizations. During the trip to Kazakhstan the United Nations Special Rapporteur plans to visit a number of colonies.

"The gathered informed, following the results of the trip, will be included in the report to the Council for Human Rights along with the conclusions and recommendations," the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
