63 candidates of Senate nominated as of August 20 - Turgankulov

63 candidates have been nominated for deputies of the Senate of the Parliament. The chairman of the Central Election Committee, Kuandyk Turgankulov, informed during briefing for mass media after the session of the Central Election Committee.

Astana. August 21. Kazakhstan Today - 63 candidates have been nominated for deputies of the Senate of the Parliament. The chairman of the Central Election Committee, Kuandyk Turgankulov, informed during briefing for mass media after the session of the Central Election Committee.

"As of August, 20, 63 candidates of the Senate of the Parliament have been nominated," K. Turgankulov informed.

Akmola, Almaty, Eastern Kazakhstan, Western Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Pavlodar oblasts have each nominated 2 candidates. 6 candidates have been nominated from Aktobe and 6 - from Karaganda oblasts. Atyrau and Northern Kazakhstan oblasts have each nominated 4 candidates. 5 candidates have been nominated from Zhambyl and 5 - from Mangistau oblasts. 3 candidates have been nominated from Kyzylorda oblast and 10 candidates from the South Kazakhstan oblast. 7 candidates have been nominated from Almaty city and 1 candidate - from Astana.

K. Turgankulov informed 14 candidates out of all candidates have been nominated by maslikhats and 49 have nominated themselves. 7 out of all nominated candidates are the current deputies of the Senate.

21 candidates are members of Nur Otan Party, 1 - a member of Ak Zhol Party, 1 - a member of the public association, 25 - non-party members, 15 have not specified their party affiliation.

According to the chairman of the Central Election Committee, 4 candidates of the Senate have been registered. 3 candidates have withdrawn their candidatures.

As it was already informed, nomination of candidates will last till September 3, 2008.

The elections of deputies of the Senate are scheduled for October 4, 2008.
