Agreement on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States to be signed - Tokayev

The draft agreement on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic states will be signed in the near future. The chairman of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev, said at the briefing, following the results of the meeting with the chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Turkish Republic, Koksal Toptan, the agency reports.

Astana. October 20. Kazakhstan Today - The draft agreement on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking states will be signed in near future. The chairman of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev, said at the briefing, following the results of the meeting with the chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Turkish Republic, Koksal Toptan, the agency reports.

According to K. Tokaev, the draft agreement on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking states will pass corresponding examination. He expressed hope that the document will be signed.

The chairman of the Senate expressed gratitude to the Turkish party for support of the initiative put forward by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States at VIII summit of the leaders of Turkic speaking countries in November, 2006. The purpose of creation of the Assembly is formation of the uniform mechanism in the form of parliamentary association and achievement of conformity of political views, exchange of experience, and realization of joint projects.

The protocol on intentions on creation of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States was signed, following the results of the meeting of assistant chairmen of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking states taken place on February 21-22 in Antalya. Study Group that developed draft agreement on Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States was created during the negotiations with participation of the delegation of Parliament of Kazakhstan headed by vice chairman of the Senate, Muhambet Kopeev, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkish members of Parliament.
