Candidates of Senate of Parliament can start pre-election campaign since September 14 - CEC

All the registered candidates of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan can start pre-election campaign since September 14. The Central Election Committee of Kazakhstan informed on Saturday.

Astana. September 15. Kazakhstan Today - All the registered candidates of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan can start pre-election campaign since September 14. The Central Election Committee of Kazakhstan informed on Saturday.

"The term of registration of candidates of the Senate of Parliament came to an end on September 13 and on September 14 all the registered candidates can start pre-election campaign," CEC informed.

As it was informed earlier, as of September, 3, 2008 34 candidates of the Senate have been registered; according to the Central Election Committee, for the period from August, 2 till September, 3, 2008 88 candidates of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan have been nominated in the Republic. 72 candidates have nominated themselves and other 16 candidates have been nominated by maslikhats.

Nomination of candidates of the Senate came to an end on September 3. According to the Central Election Committee, the largest quantity of candidates has been nominated in the South Kazakhstan oblast - 10 people and Almaty - 10 people, in Astana - 9 candidates,

Aktobe oblast - 6 candidates, Zhambyl oblast - 6 candidates, Karaganda oblast - candidates, Pavlodar oblast - 6 candidates, Mangistau oblast - 5 candidates, Northern Kazakhstan oblast - 5 candidates, Akmola oblast - 4 candidates, Atyrau oblast - 4 candidates, Eastern Kazakhstan oblast - 4 candidates, Western Kazakhstan - 4 candidates , Kyzylorda - 4 candidates , Kostanay oblast - 3 candidates , and Almaty oblast - 2 candidates.

2 out of 88 nominated candidates three have withdrawn their nomination and two more candidates have been taken off the ballot in connection with their lack of conformity with the requirements of Constitution of Kazakhstan.
