Central Election Commission of Ukraine officially declared Yanukovych president of country

The Central Election Committee of Ukraine has officially declared the leader of the Party of Regions, Victor Yanukovych, the president of the country, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. February 15. Kazakhstan Today - The Central Election Committee of Ukraine has officially declared the leader of the Party of Regions, Victor Yanukovych, the president of the country, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

All 15 members of the Central Election Committee confirmed the protocol with the elections results in the second round on February 14 at 16.50 Moscow time, five of them - with "special opinion" on February 7, 2010. The elections results were announced by the chairman of the commission, Vladimir Shapoval.

According to the Central Election Committee, V. Yanukovych received 12 million 481 thousand 266 votes, or 48.95 % of votes. Y. Timoshenko was supported by 11 million 593 thousand 357 people, or 45.47 % of the Ukrainians.

4.36 % of citizens have voted against all candidates. 25 million 493 thousand 529 people (69.07 %) took part in the elections.

The new head of state will assume his post within a month.
