Central Election Committee approved expenditure norms of candidates of Senate of Parliament covered by republican budget

Astana. August 21. Kazakhstan Today - The Central Election Committee at the session today approved the expenditure norms of the candidates of the Senate of the Parliament that will be covered by the republican budget, the agency reports.

"According to Election Legislation, the republican budget has allocated 250 145 KZT for each candidate of the Senate of the Parliament on carrying out of pre-election campaign and for transportation expenditures," vice chairman of the Central Election Committee, Vladimir Foos, said at the session.

During the briefing for the press after the session the chairman of Central Election Committee, Kuandyk Turgankulov, noted that "pre-election campaign of the candidates of the Senate can also be financed by the candidates' funds, total sum of which should not exceed 2 405 000 KZT, and donations of citizens and organizations, total sum of which should not exceed 6 012 500 KZT."

"Total sum of the funds in the election fund of the candidates of the Senate should not exceed 8 417 500 KZT," he said.

He also noted that the republican budget has allocated in 2008 135 million KZT for the Central Election Committee for elections, 51 million from which the Central Election Committees plans to spend for elections of Senate deputies.

Elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan will take place on October 4, 2008.
