Chairman of provisional government made statement

The press centre published the statement of the chairman of the provisional government of Kyrgyzstan, Roza Otunbaeva, concerning departure of Kurmanbek Bakiev. The text states that the provisional government made the decision on departure of the ex-president, K. Bakiev, from the country.

Bishkek. April 16. Kazakhstan Today - The press centre published the statement of the chairman of the provisional government of Kyrgyzstan, Roza Otunbaeva, concerning departure of Kurmanbek Bakiev. The text states that the provisional government made the decision on departure of the ex-president, K. Bakiev, from the country.

"Dismissed from the post, ex-president of the country, having surrounded himself in his native village by his relatives, among whom are a lot of women and children, became the source of destabilization of the situation in the Dzhalal-Abad region. Having hidden behind a live fence, as a matter of fact, taking in hostage his relatives and all inhabitants of the village, he organized active campaigns, having tried to instigate civil unrest between the north and the south of the country."

According to the statement, the leaders of some states held negotiations with the provisional government and overthrown president, calling him to refuse his political ambitions in the interests of the Kyrgyz people, stability in the country, prevention of civil war, which he was ready to instigate for the sake of protection of himself and his relatives.

"The provisional government, from the very beginning, declared unwillingness to hold any negotiations with the ex-president guilty of murder of Kyrgyzstan people. We had an opportunity to arrest Kurmanbek Bakiev, however, this would not guarantee safety to the inhabitants of the village, woman, and children."
