Chairman of Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan and Ambassador of Georgia discussed situation in Caucasus

The chairman of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, and the Ambassador of Georgia to Kazakhstan, Zurab Shurgaya, discussed during the meeting on Friday the situation in Caucasus, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Senate.

Astana. September 29. Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, and the Ambassador of Georgia to Kazakhstan, Zurab Shurgaya, discussed during the meeting on Friday the situation in Caucasus, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Senate.

"The interlocutors discussed the situation in Georgia. The Speaker K. Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan, having allied relations with Russia and friendly mutual relations with Georgia, sincerely wishes normalization of the situation in this part of the Caucasian region," the press service informs.

"K. Tokayev cited the statement of the President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, concerning the conflict and stated support of arrangements of the European Union and Russia. Realization of this agreement will promote restoration of peace and stability in Georgia," the press service informs.

"During the meeting Z. Shurgaya expressed gratitude to the President N. Nazarbayev for the balanced position in relation to the military conflict in his country and expressed hope for continuation of trade and economic and investment cooperation between Georgia and Kazakhstan," the press service explained.
