Chairman of Supreme Court informed Nazarbayev on judicial reform

The chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, Kayrat Mami, informed the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on measures to further improve justice system and strengthen the judicial reform, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, Kayrat Mami, informed the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on measures to further improve justice system and strengthen the judicial reform, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

According to the press service, during the meeting the parties talked about the course of discussion in Parliament of the project of the Constitutional Law on amendments and additions to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Judicial System and Status of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan developed by the Supreme Court according to the constitutional amendments. According to the bill, the first and supervisory bodies in regional courts will be abolished and the role of the regional courts will be increased. As a result, the trimeric judicial system will be created in the Republic, which is more understandable for the population.

As it was informed earlier, on September 24, at the plenary session of Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan the deputies approved the project of the Constitutional Law on amendments and additions to the Constitutional Law of Kazakhstan on Judicial System and Status of Judges of Kazakhstan.

According to the conclusion of Majilis Committee on Legal and Judicial Reform, the objective of the bill - bringing the constitutional law in consistency with the amendments introduced to the Constitution of the country in May of 2007 and further improvement of the judicial system of the Republic.

The bill changes the structure of the Supreme and Regional Courts. The supervising board, the board on civil and criminal cases of the Supreme Court has been transformed to the supervisory judicial board on civil and administrative affairs, the supervisory judicial board on criminal cases. In the regional court the supervisory board has been abolished and the boards on civil and criminal cases have been transformed to the judicial board of appeals and the constitutional judicial board.
