Chairmen of power departments of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran to meet in Dushanbe before SCO summit

The Ministers of Energy of Iran, Said Parvizi Fattoh, Afghanistan Mohammad Ismailhan, and Tajikistan, Gul Sherali, plan to meet in the near future in Dushanbe, the agency reports referring to Asia Plus agency on Monday.

Dushanbe. August 12. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministers of Energy of Iran, Said Parvizi Fattoh, Afghanistan Mohammad Ismailhan, and Tajikistan, Gul Sherali, plan to meet in the near future in Dushanbe, the agency reports referring to Asia Plus agency on Monday.

According to Tajik energy holding Barki tochik, at present the parties define the date of the meeting, however, probably, the meeting of three ministers will take place before the summit of SCO member states.

The chairmen of energy departments of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran will discuss the agreement on purchase of Tajik electric power by Afghanistan and construction of a new transmission line of 220 kw Sangtuda-1-Puli Humri for transportation of Tajik electric power.

Participants of the meeting will discuss construction of a transmission line Central Asia - Southern Asia - 1000 (Central Asia-South Asian-1000 or CASA-1000). The intergovernmental agreement on development of the project was signed in Islamabad last week within the limits of the fourth conference of participants of the project Central-and South-Asian electro power market.

The Iranian party, having expressed interest in realization of tripartite projects, has suggested holding the meeting of Ministers of Power of three countries within the limits of the summit of the leaders of the states of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan, which will take place in the end of August of 2008 in Dushanbe.
