Constitution amendment to grant President right to legislative initiative

Astana. May 17. Kazakhstan Today - The amendment has been proposed to be introduced to the Constitution that will grant the right to the President to legislative initiative. The deputy Chairman of the president's administration Onalsyn Zhumabekov informed on Wednesday at the joint session of the Parliament Chambers, the agency reports.

"The bill offers to grant the President the right to the legislative initiative," O. Zhumabekov said presenting the bill of amendments and additions to the Kazakhstan Constitution.

"It has been proposed to establish that the candidate for the president's post, besides the existing requirements, has lived in Kazakhstan for the last 15 years as only permanent residence in the country for a long time will allow to be imbued with the interests and expectations of the people, to be aware of all problems and ways of their solution, to possess authority and gain trust of the citizens of the country," O. Zhumabekov explained.

The bill also stipulates the norm to grant the President the right to dissolution of the Parliament after consultations with the Prime Minister and the Speakers of the Chambers of the Parliament.
