Construction industry input to GDP growth made 13.5 % - PM

Astana. April 25. Kazakhstan Today - In the first quarter of 2006 construction industry input to GDP growth has made about 13.5 %, Kazakhstan PM Daniyal Akhmetov informed today during the governmental session.

"The input of this branch to GDP growth makes about 13.5 %," he said. PM of Kazakhstan named construction industry a "leader" in GDP growth influence. "Growth rates of construction keep at the level of more than 30 %," D. Akhmetov emphasized.

PM reminded that in January - March, 2006 GDP growth in Kazakhstan made 7.6 %, thus, the input of industrial production to GDP growth in comparison with the similar period of the last year decreased from 2.3 % to 0.7 %.

At the same time D. Akhmetov noted positive dynamics of growth rate in communication (28.2 %) and transport industries (6.5 %). "As a total, these two spheres have provided 15% of GDP growth," he emphasized.

6.5 % of GDP growth has been due to "total accumulation of fixed capital that testifies the growth of investment demand, grown by 23.3 %".

D. Akhmetov has also informed that in the first quarter export in the real expression has decreased by 7.3 % and import has increased by 3.6 %.
