Construction of coastal protection constructions in Aktau port to be completed by end of 2008

Coastal protection constructions will be completed in Aktau port by the end of 2008. Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, Zhenis Kasymbek, informed today at the selector government meeting, the agency reports.

Astana. August 4. Kazakhstan Today - Coastal protection constructions will be completed in Aktau port by the end of 2008. Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, Zhenis Kasymbek, informed today at the selector government meeting, the agency reports.

"The works on construction of protection coastal constructions are being conducted. Time for completion - the end of the current year, Z. Kasymbek said, having noted, that the works are being conducted within realization of the project on expansion of Aktau sea port to the northern direction.

He reminded that more than 11 million tons of cargoes were transported last year through Aktau port.

"The project of expansion provides for increase by 2012 of the port's capacity for transportation of cargoes up to 23 million tons a year. Four bulk-oil berths and three dry-cargo berths will be constructed additionally," he said.

Total cost of the project - 41.7 billion KZT. "The project is financed by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan that allocated 15.4 billion KZT," Vice Minister informed.

The following stage of work - construction of the coastal infrastructure with the multipurpose terminal. The end of the project is planned for 2012.
