Cooperation questions between CSTO and the United Nations discussed in New York

The session participants discussed cooperation questions between the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the United Nations in New York, the agency reports citing the press service of the CSTO Secretariat.

Moscow. September 27. Kazakhstan Today - The session participants discussed cooperation questions between the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the United Nations in New York, the agency reports citing the press service of the CSTO Secretariat.

The CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, met the United Nations leadership. Nikolay Bordyuzha is in New York to participate in the 65th session of the UN General Assembly and in an informal meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states.

"The CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha during the meetings with Assistants of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Political Affairs discussed cooperation questions between the CSTO and the United Nations within the Joint Declaration on Cooperation signed between secretariats of both organizations in March, 2010."

An informal meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states with participation of Bordyuzha took place on Thursday in New York.

The meeting participants discussed the questions of the agenda of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, including those that have importance for the CSTO member states: disarmament, the situation in Afghanistan, and cooperation of the CSTO and the United Nations.

The meeting participants discussed the questions of the forthcoming OSCE summit, which will be held in Astana on December 1-2, 2010.

The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
