Criminal liability for manufacture and import of forged medical products to be toughened

Astana. June 24. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan needs to toughen the criminal liability for manufacture, sale, storage and import on the territory of Kazakhstan of the forged medical products. The inquiry of Majilismen Yerbolat Apsalyamov addressed to the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, sounded today at the plenary Majilis session, states, the agency reports.

According to the deputy, the customs bodies of Kazakhstan in 2008 revealed 11 cases of contraband of medical products for a total sum of 1 million 664.764 thousand KZT. The Committee for Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health has revealed the facts of realization of 31 names of forged medical products, such as No-SPA, Biseptol, Festal, Valokordin, Fastum Gel and others.

"The Criminal Code of Kazakhstan does not provide responsibility for manufacture, sale, storage and import on the territory of Kazakhstan of counterfeit medicinal products," he said.
