CRRF CSTO exercises to be held regularly

The exercises of Collective Rapid Response Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization need to be held regularly. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said, following the results of the final stage of CRRF CSTO Interaction-2009 exercises, the agency reports.

Almaty. October 16. Kazakhstan Today - The exercises of Collective Rapid Response Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization need to be held regularly. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said, following the results of the final stage of CRRF CSTO Interaction-2009 exercises, the agency reports.

N. Nazarbayev positively assessed the exercises, which took place today, and said that, during the preliminary preparation, all the states had done much work and the military divisions "achieved their goals."

The leaders of the CSTO states accepted the decision on creation of CRRF in Moscow on February 4, 2009. CRRF will be used to repulse military aggression and carrying out of special operations to struggle against international terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, and liquidation of consequences of emergencies.

CSTO - the military-political union of seven countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, created based on the Contract of Collective Security on May 15, 1992. On May 14, 2002, the Contract of Collective Security was transformed into the international organization. On December 2, 2004, CSTO received the status of observer in the UN General Assembly.
