CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces not counterbalance to NATO

The Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are not a counterbalance to NATO, the CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, stated on Friday in Moscow, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

Almaty. February 16. Kazakhstan Today - The Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are not a counterbalance to NATO, the CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, stated on Friday in Moscow, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

N. Bordyuzha expressed hope that we will not need to use the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces. "There are several levels of securing safety. The main is a state. CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces are the last, absolute necessity when a state needs help of its allies. I hope that the forces will be created, but, I hope we will not need to apply them," N. Bordyuzha said.

As informed earlier, on February, 4th the leaders of the CSTO member countries signed the project of decision on formation of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
