CSTO Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs spoke in support of role of Russia in maintaining peace in Caucasus

The Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs of the member states of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has spoken in support of the role of the Russian Federation in maintenance peace in Caucasus, the agency reports referring to ITAR-TASS.

Almaty. September 5. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs of the member states of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has spoken in support of the role of the Russian Federation in maintenance peace in Caucasus, the agency reports referring to ITAR-TASS.

"The Ministers support an active role of the Russian Federation in maintaining peace and cooperation in Caucasus and maintenance of safety for South Ossetia and Abkhazia," the agency informs.

According to ITAR-TASS, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CSTO member states accepted the statement in connection with the events in South Ossetia at the session in Moscow." The statement informs that CSTO member countries have concerns about military actions undertaken by the Georgian side in South Ossetia that caused numerous victims among peaceful population, deaths of the Russian peacemakers and a serious humanitarian accident."

"The Ministers support strict adherence to the settlement principles developed by the President of the Russian Federation and the President of France," ITAR-TASS informs.
