CSTO Secretary General supported Kazakhstan chairmanship in OSCE

The CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha supported Kazakhstan chairmanship in OSCE at the 15th session of OSCE at the level of ministers in Madrid on Thursday, CSTO secretariat press service informed the agency.

Moscow. November 30. Kazakhstan Today - The CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha supported Kazakhstan chairmanship in OSCE at the 15th session of OSCE at the level of ministers in Madrid on Thursday, CSTO secretariat press service informed the agency.

"We express support for candidature of the Republic of Kazakhstan for presidency in OSCE in 2009 and are convinced that it will allow attaching a new impulse to development of the organization and will provide equality of all its participants and equity of geographical balance in supervising OSCE structures," N. Bordyuzha stated.

According to the press service, N. Bordyuzha reminded that the OSCE member states brought a number of specific proposals on increase of efficiency of OSCE work. These are the projects of the decisions, concerning struggle against threat of illegal circulation of drugs, development of the OSCE Charter, supervision of elections within the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

N. Bordyuzha noted that the CSTO member states support increase of the role of OSCE forum of cooperation in the field of safety and call to contribute efforts of the organization in military-political direction, CSTO secretariat press service informed.
