CSTO to discuss post conflict development of Afghanistan

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will take place on November 9, will discuss problems in rendering assistance in post conflict development of Afghanistan at the fourth session of the working group for Afghanistan at the Ministerial council of foreign affairs, CSTO secretariat press service informed the agency.

Moscow. November 9. Kazakhstan Today - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will take place on November 9, will discuss problems in rendering assistance in post conflict development of Afghanistan at the fourth session of the working group for Afghanistan at the Ministerial council of foreign affairs, CSTO secretariat press service informed the agency.

According to the press service, the participants of the event will discuss problems in rendering assistance in post conflict development of Afghanistan in the view of the results of Dushanbe (2007) sessions of CSTO Council and tendencies of development of the situation.

The question of interaction of SCO Contact group for Afghanistan will be considered and the work plan of the group for the first half of 2008 has been approved at the session. The national coordinators for Afghanistan of CSTO member states and the experts will take part in the work of the session.

The working group for Afghanistan was created as a working body at CSTO Ministerial council of foreign affairs on the basis of the decision of the Council of collective safety on June 23, 2005. The main directions of the activity are concentrated on development of recommendations concerning struggle with drug threat and assistance to development of state institutes of authority in Afghanistan, CSTO secretariat press service informed.
