Decriminalization of criminal legislation to be continued - State Office of Public Prosecutor

Decriminalization of the criminal legislation needs to be continued. The first assistant to General Public Prosecutor Iogann Merkel stated on Monday during the expanded session of presidium of the National Democratic Party Nur Otan faction, the agency reports.

Astana. May 27. Kazakhstan Today - Decriminalization of the criminal legislation needs to be continued. The first assistant to General Public Prosecutor Iogann Merkel stated on Monday during the expanded session of presidium of the National Democratic Party Nur Otan faction, the agency reports.

"It is necessary to continue the work on decriminalization of the criminal legislation with transference of crimes not representing big danger to the category of administrative offences," I. Merkel stated.

"Decriminalization would make the bodies of criminal prosecution more effective in disclosing the most dangerous forms of criminality and struggle against unimportant crimes could be punished with administrative disciplinary action," he explained.

I. Merkel emphasized "in many foreign countries crimes are only those actions that really represent serious public danger and in other cases administrative responsibility is used.
