Documents on creation of EurAsEC Customs Union signed in Dushanbe

The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus Nursultan Nazarbayev, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko signed a package of documents, concerning formation of legal base of the Customs Union of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) in Dushanbe on Friday, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

Dushanbe. October 8. Kazakhstan Today - The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus Nursultan Nazarbayev, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko signed a package of documents, concerning formation of legal base of the Customs Union of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) in Dushanbe on Friday, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

The leaders of the states signed the contract on the commissions of the Customs Union, the contract on creation of the unified customs territory and formation of the Customs Union, the protocol on the order of coming into force of the international contracts, forming contractual-legal base of the union, withdrawal and joining them.

The arrangement on signing the documents by three states had been reached in August, 2006 at the extraordinary meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council in Sochi.

Within the limits of six members of the states the protocol on amendments to the contract on EurAsEC foundation was accepted. This document endows the Interstate Council with the function of the supreme body of the Customs Union. The second part of a package of the documents, concerning creation of the Customs Union and including nine contracts, will be signed during the session of the EurAsEC member states prime ministers in December.

EurAsEC includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Armenia, Moldova and the Ukraine possess the status of EurAsEC observes.
