European Union discusses cancellation of sanctions concerning Uzbekistan after Andizhan events

The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU) discussed the question of cancellation of sanctions imposed on Uzbekistan after the Andizhan events in May, 2005 in Luxemburg on Tuesday, a source in EU foreign policy department informed the agency.

Moscow. April 30. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU) discussed the question of cancellation of sanctions imposed on Uzbekistan after the Andizhan events in May, 2005 in Luxemburg on Tuesday, a source in EU foreign policy department informed the agency.

The source has noted that most likely the sanctions will remain in force.

Moreover, the ministers will consider the question about resuming restrictions on issuing visas to Uzbek officials cancelled before."
