Astana. November 28. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin will take part in the annual meeting of OSCE Foreign Ministers on November 29-30 in Madrid, Spain, the source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic informed the agency.

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will consider the application of Kazakhstan for OSCE presidency in 2009 this week in Madrid.

In December of 2006 consideration of the application of Kazakhstan for the post of OSCE chairmanship was postponed for the 15th session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs in 2007 in Madrid.

"Discussion proceeded all day. But, despite of this, we think it is necessary to wait while Kazakhstan will reach the level," the chairman of the organization Karel de Guht stated at the briefing in Brussels during the 14th session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs of OSCE member states.

"We know that Kazakhstan does not accept 2011 as possible date for presidency. Therefore, we will offer an alternative decision," K. de Guht said. As he said, that decision will be prolongation of the "estimation" period for the republic till 2007 when OSCE will convene for the ministerial session in Madrid for the 15th time. "Then it will be possible to conduct political estimation of the reforms carried out by the country," the chairman of the organization noted.
