Government to purchase 1 million tons of grain from Kazakhstan market

The government of Kazakhstan in the near future will make a decision on purchase of 1 million tons of grain of the last year's crop from the Kazakhstan market. Vice-Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Armand Evniev, informed at a weekly briefing in the Ministry of Agriculture, the agency reports.

Astana. June 9. Kazakhstan Today - The government of Kazakhstan in the near future will make a decision on purchase of 1 million tons of grain of the last year's crop from the Kazakhstan market. Vice-Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Armand Evniev, informed at a weekly briefing in the Ministry of Agriculture, the agency reports.

"Within the next few days, the government will make a decision on purchase of 1 million tons of grain of 2008 to withdraw surpluses of grain from the market," A. Evniev informed.

He reminded that marketing year will come to an end on June 30 and by this time Agriculture Ministry will sum up the results of grain import. As he said, about 5 million 200 thousand tons of flour and grain have been exported, despite the most complicated conditions of 2009 due to overload of the ports and the markets with the Ukrainian and Russian grain." According to the preliminary data, as a whole, the level of export of grain in 2008/2009 marketing year will total 5.5 million tons.
