Government to toughen monitoring of financial situation in banks - Masimov

The government of Kazakhstan plans to toughen monitoring of the financial situation in local banks. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan K. Masimov said at the expanded government session on Thursday, the agency reports.

Astana. February 15. Kazakhstan Today - The government of Kazakhstan plans to toughen monitoring of the financial situation in local banks. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan K. Masimov said at the expanded government session on Thursday, the agency reports.

"The government along with the National Bank, the Agency for Financial Supervision will carry out strict monitoring of financial situation in the banks and take urgent measures," K. Masimov said. "If the financial organizations or their proprietors are unable to solve arising problems, according to the legislation, the new managers, and if it is required new investors, including foreign, will be involved," the Prime Minister stated.

The Prime Minister emphasized that "the government does not make it an aim to rescue banks, rendering them unilateral support." "The main burden of responsibility and risks are still on the financial organizations. Our goal is to provide stability of the financial system and to protect the interests of investors," he explained.
