In Kazakhstan damage from forest fires totals more than 127 million tenge this year

The republic faces growing number of wildfires. Since the beginning of the year in the state forest fund there are registered 486 fires, the area of forest fires was 3915 hectares, the material damage is more than 127 million tenge.

Astana. August 15. Kazakhstan Today - Since the beginning of the year the damage from forest fires in Kazakhstan amounted to more than 127 million tenge, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"The republic faces growing number of wildfires. Since the beginning of the year in the state forest fund there are registered 486 fires, the area of forest fires was 3915 hectares, the material damage is more than 127 million tenge," the Ministry of Emergency Situations informs.

Compared to the same period of the last year, the number of fires in forests has increased by 41%, and the area of fires has increased six times.

In the steppe massifs of the republic there were 37 fires, with a total area of 18,063 hectares.

"The majority of wildfires occur as a result of careless handling of fire - it can be conducting an uncontrolled annealing of dry vegetation, carelessly thrown cigarette butt or not smothered fire, a spark from a muffler of the faulty motor vehicles. There are frequent cases of transition of steppe fire in the forest fire," the Ministry added.
