Incumbent Kazakh president agrees to run for re-election

Incumbent Kazakh President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has agreed to run in the early presidential elections as a candidate of the People's Democratic Party Nur Otan, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Astana. February 11. Kazakhstan Today - Incumbent Kazakh President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has agreed to run in the early presidential elections as a candidate of the People's Democratic Party Nur Otan, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"I agree to stand in polls for the post of president of Kazakhstan," he said at a congress of the ruling party Nur Otan, where he was officially invited to run in the April 3 presidential election.

"I view the decision to nominate me as presidential candidate as support of my course, I am sure that together we will win," Nazarbayev said.

As informed earlier, rector of Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim, the head of the initiative group for referendum to prolong presidential term of the current president of Kazakhstan, Erlan Sydykov, nominated the chairman of the Nur Otan Party N. Nazarbayev to run presidential election.

As informed earlier, pre-election campaigning is to start on March 3 and end on April 1.
