Islam Karimov named reasons of explosions in Kagan

The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, named the main cause of explosions in the rocket-artillery depot in the city of Kagan. He said that during Soviet time this ammunition depot was constructed without account of certain norms, the agency reports referring to information agency CA-News.

Almaty. July 18. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, named the main cause of explosions in the rocket-artillery depot in the city of Kagan. He said that during Soviet time this ammunition depot was constructed without account of certain norms, the agency reports referring to information agency CA-News.

The governmental commission on neutralization of the situation in Kagan and investigation of the reasons which entailed this emergency was created after explosions in the rocket-artillery depot on July 10, 2008 by I. Karimov's decree. On July, 17 I. Karimov held the session of the governmental commission in Kagan.

Having named the main cause of explosion - non-observance of the norms at construction of the depot during Soviet time, the President noted that "those who design such depots should comply with all the security norms."

According to the television channel, besides the main cause, the Ministry of Defense of the country acted irresponsible to the condition of the ammunition depot, its appropriate storage and compliance with the norms.

The State Office of Public Prosecutor has been carrying out investigation on the fact of the incident, its reasons and damage.
