Kazakh President received Minister of Transport and Communications

A. Zhumagaliyev informed of the work done to ensure access of Kazakhstan to the Internet, transfer of public services in an electronic format and modernization of public service centers, the presidential press service said.

Astana. 19 May. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev received Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev on Friday, Kazakhstan Today reports.

A. Zhumagaliyev informed of the work done to ensure access of Kazakhstan to the Internet, transfer of public services in an electronic format and modernization of public service centers, the presidential press service said.

According to the Minister, the work on introduction of CDMA technology continues.

"Kazakhstan took the 38th place among the UN e-Government development rankings, and 14th in the on-line service. Networked Readiness Index ranked Kazakhstan 55th. Kazakhstan has managed to achieve 46th position in the global Fixed Telephone Lines and 38th position in Mobile telephone subscriptions. 53% of Kazakh people use the services of the internet.As of today more than 1 million electronic signatures were issued," - minister noted.

Till the end of this year, the Ministry of Transport and Communications plans to transfer 60% of the socially important services in an electronic format, and 100% in 2013.

Following the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a number of specific instructions to the Ministry.
