Kazakhstan and Kuwait Expand Investment Cooperation
During the working visit of Baghdad Amreyev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), to the State of Kuwait, Yerzhan Yelekeyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the TIF President, held a series of meetings with the leadership of leading Kuwaiti and regional financial and investment institutions.

During the meeting with Rashaid Al-Bader, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), the parties discussed prospects for co-financing infrastructure and other priority projects. Following the talks, an agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between TIF and KFAED in the near future.

At the meeting with H.E. Sheikh Saud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the parties discussed promising investment projects in TIF member states, including in the areas of infrastructure, transport and logistics, energy, and finance.

During the meeting with H.E. Fawzi Yousef Al-Hunaif, Director General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the parties explored opportunities for joint project financing and further engagement with the institutions of the Arab Coordination Group.

Particular attention during the meetings was paid to food security. The parties highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant potential in this area and the prospects for long-term cooperation as Kuwait seeks to diversify its sources of food supplies, including through the implementation of joint investment projects.

Following the meetings, the parties reaffirmed their interest in further exploring concrete investment initiatives.

Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, with assets under management estimated at approximately USD 1 trillion. Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) is Kuwait’s state development institution, which has financed more than 1,000 projects in over 100 countries worldwide, including Kazakhstan. Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development is a regional development institution headquartered in Kuwait that finances infrastructure and socio-economic development projects in Arab countries.
