Chairman of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart-Tokayev, being in Minsk on an official visit, was received by President Alexander Lukashenko, press service of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan reports.
The Senate speaker conveyed greetings and the best wishes of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the Belarussian leader.
According to Tokayev, the strategic level of Kazakh-Belarussian interaction is due to mutual trust between the heads of the two states.
The head of the Upper Chamber of Parliament noted a convergence of views of our states on the processes taking place in the world politics. According to Tokayev, it will enable to cooperate productively within the UN, OSCE other multilateral organizations, to provide mutual support and coordinate efforts within international platforms. Close and productive interaction has been established within integration groupings.
The Senate speaker noted the importance of mediation of Minsk and Astana in the strengthing of the current most acute geopolitical conflicts - the Ukrainian and Syrian ones. According to him, it was due to the fundamental interest of our states in the earliest possible entry of international relations into sustainable development.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the agenda of the session of the main group of the Munich Conference on security and cooperation in Europe taking place in Minsk. Tokayev noted the speech of the head of Belarus delivered during it, which, according to him, was appraised by other participants of the Forum.
The speech was frank, businesslike, and one can say it was full of very serious signals directed at the international and European community," said the Senate speaker.
According to Tokayev, the Conference's representative participation and the scale of matters under discussion prove that Belarus is becoming a recognized platform for searching solutions to complex world problems.
On 31 November, Tokayev took part in a meeting of the Main Group of the Munich Conference in Misnck. The participants traditionally focused on the architecture of regional security.
Discussion in the Belarussian capital city covered East-West interaction, regional conflicts, the economic situation in Eastern Europe, as well as energy and transnational security.
The Forum heard speeches of the heads of the states and governments, Parliament speakers, heads of international organizations, influential public figures, representatives of analytical centres. Tokayev took part in the panel sessions devoted to the Minsk process and East-West interaction.
On the sidelines of the Conference, a Kazakh delegation met with President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian. During the talk, the bilateral agenda was discussed. Tokayev and Sarkissian expressed interest to expand cooperation in the political and trade and economic spheres.
The finale of the visit's parliamentary component was the signing of the protocol to create a sub-commission to develop cooperation in innovations by Senate Chairman Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich. The agreement on this issue has been recently reached during talks between heads of the Upper Chambers of Parliaments of the two states. Interaction in this area will enable to open new perspectives of interparliamentary dialogue and will be a practical impact related to providing legal support to the implementation of joint projects, the promotion of modern technologies.
Our task is to stimulate the governments, other organizations, including non-governmental, to close interaction in this area. Belarus's economy develops stably and Kazakhstan is interested in both to study Belarus's experience, and to interact with Belarus in this sphere," said Tokayev.
