Kazakhstan FM met OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin held the meeting with the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Knut Vollebekk, who had arrived in our country for a visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service informed the agency.

Astana. October 10. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin held the meeting with the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Knut Vollebekk, who had arrived in our country for a visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service informed the agency.

According to the press service, during the meeting perspective directions of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the office of the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities have been discussed.

"K. Vollebekk emphasized exemplary experience of cooperation between our country and the OSCE colleges, first of all, in the area of guaranteeing the rights of ethnic minority and harmonization of interethnic relations," the message widespread by the press service states.

The OSCE High Commissioner confirmed his intention to continue active interaction with the Kazakhstan party on the projects of the organization and expressed readiness to assist in realization of the national goals in the sphere of interethnic and inter confessional relations in the society.

K. Vollebekk was appointed to this post on July 4, 2007 for the period of 3 years. The functions of the High Commissioner include supervision of the welfare of national minorities in OSCE region.
