Kazakhstan Foreign Minister held bilateral meetings with Administration of White House and World Bank

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, during his working visit to Washington on October 2 held bilateral meetings with Vice President of the USA, Dick Cheney, the Assistant President of the USA, Stephen Hedli, and the President of World Bank, Robert Zellik, the agency reports referring to the press service the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, during his working visit to Washington on October 2 held bilateral meetings with Vice President of the USA, Dick Cheney, the Assistant President of the USA, Stephen Hedli, and the President of World Bank, Robert Zellik, the agency reports referring to the press service the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, during the meeting with D. Cheyney the interlocutors have exchanged opinions on wide aspects of bilateral cooperation and its perspective directions.

"D. Cheyney assessed reforms conducted by our country in political and social and economic spheres. As for the questions of trade and economic development, the interlocutors considered the course of realization of the Kazakhstan-American initiative of state-private economic partnership, as well as the dialogue on further cooperation development in the sphere of energy and nuclear industry," the press service informed.

Concerning regional safety, in particular, situations in the Central-Asian region, the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan. M. Tazhin informed the interlocutor on acceptance by the government of Kazakhstan of the special plan on assistance to Afghanistan.

Kazakhstan Minister of Foreign Affairs informed on the beginning of realization of the state program Way to Europe, which sets as an objective the accelerated modernization of the Kazakhstan society by use of modern best practices.

"The important questions of the regional and global security were discussed by the Kazakhstan Minister at the meeting with the Assistant to President of the United States, Stephen Hedli," the press service informed.

During the working visit to Washington of M. Tazhin visited the headquarters of World Bank where he held the meeting with the President of these international financial institutions, Robert Zellik.

According to the press service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main topic of the meeting was consideration of the course of realization of the largest projects of World Bank in Kazakhstan.
