Kazakhstan introduced quota on import of sugar

"Besides quota, there will not be imports of sugar on the territory of Kazakhstan," he emphasized.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, quota will be distributed between those enterprises, which have contracts on delivery of sugar so that they do not incur penal sanctions. "We protect the interests of domestic manufacturers and we provide conditions so that our factories meet their engagements on provision the population with white sugar," the Agriculture Minister concluded.

As it was informed earlier, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov signed the government decree, concerning introduction of quotes of import of sugar in Kazakhstan.

The project provides introduction "of quota, proceeding from the existing contracts on import of white sugar from abroad."

Quotas are introduced for the specific short-term period. The restrictions have been introduced till October 1.
