Kazakhstan Parliament approved amendment to law On Parliament and Status of its Deputies

Astana. June 19. Kazakhstan Today - Today at the joint session of the Chambers of the Parliament the deputies accepted in the second reading the Constitutional Law on amendments and additions to the Constitutional Law On Parliament and Status of its Deputies, the agency reports.

67 Majilis deputies and 33 Senate deputies voted for the law in the second reading.

The Minister of Justice Zagipa Baliyeva emphasized earlier presenting the bill in the Parliament that the amendments has been created to bring the norms of the law in conformity with the Constitution of Kazakhstan and realization of some of its norms. The introduced amendments concern quantity of the Parliament deputies. The Senate is composed of the deputies representing each oblast, city of the republican value and the capital. 15 Senate deputies are appointed by the President of the country.

The Majilis is composed of 107 deputies, 98 of whom are elected on the basis of unified direct elections voting by secret ballot, and 9 deputies are elected by the Assembly of the People's of Kazakhstan.
