Kazakhstan President held meeting with President of France

The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met the President of France Nikolay Sarkozi on Tuesday during the work of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met the President of France Nikolay Sarkozi on Tuesday during the work of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, the agency reports. During the negotiations the parties expressed urge towards the level of strategic partnership.

N. Sarkozi noted that France highly estimates successes of Kazakhstan in economic and political development, recognizes leadership of Kazakhstan in the region and its important role in maintenance of regional safety. "France supports application of Kazakhstan for the OSCE presidency," the leader of the French Republic emphasized.

The President of France expressed readiness to visit Kazakhstan for discussion of the issues of strategic partnership and participation of large French business in the Kazakhstan projects. N. Sarkozi considers it possible "to double increase commodity turnover between two countries."

In his turn, N. Nazarbayev expressed readiness of Kazakhstan to develop bilateral cooperation. The leader of Kazakhstan emphasized, "France is the major partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union. Our country is ready to make steps for cooperation with France in various areas," N. Nazarbayev concluded.
